The Airbus A350-1000 is the stretched, longest-range variant of the A350 XWB family, designed to compete directly with the Boeing 777-300ER and 777X. It entered commercial service with Qatar Airways in February 2018 and features a fuselage stretched approximately 7 metres compared to the A350-900, accommodating more passengers over ultra-long sectors. The aircraft is constructed predominantly from composite materials, which account for around 53% of its airframe by weight, contributing to significant fuel efficiency gains over previous-generation widebodies. Its advanced Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines are among the most powerful turbofans ever fitted to a twin-engine commercial aircraft. The A350-1000 is capable of flying some of the world's longest nonstop routes, including Qantas's Project Sunrise flights between Sydney and London or New York. Its combination of range, capacity, and operating economics makes it a preferred choice for high-demand long-haul and ultra-long-haul operations.

The Airbus A350 is a long-range, wide-body twin-engine airliner developed and produced by Airbus. The initial A350 design, which was proposed in 2004 in response to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, would have been a development of the Airbus A330 with composite wings, advanced winglets, and new efficient engines. Due to inadequate market support, Airbus switched in 2006 to a clean-sheet extra wide body (XWB) design, powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB high bypass turbofan engines. The prototype first flew on 14 June 2013 from Toulouse, France. Type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was obtained in September 2014, followed by certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) two months later.
