Bell 212

The Bell 212, also known as the Twin Two-Twelve, is a twin-engine utility helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter. It was derived from the single-engine Bell 205 (UH-1 Iroquois) and introduced a more powerful twin-engine configuration using the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T-3 Twin Pac turboshaft system. The aircraft first flew in 1969 and entered service shortly thereafter. The Bell 212 was originally developed in response to a Canadian government requirement for a twin-engine helicopter capable of operating in demanding conditions. It found wide adoption across military, commercial, offshore oil and gas, and humanitarian sectors. A military variant, designated UH-1N Twin Huey, was operated extensively by the United States armed forces. The helicopter can carry up to 14 passengers in addition to the pilot and is well-suited for operations in remote and challenging environments. It has been succeeded in production by the Bell 412, which features a four-blade composite rotor system, though the 212 remains in widespread service around the world.
