Ilyushin IL114

The Ilyushin Il-114 is a twin-turboprop regional airliner developed in the Soviet Union during the 1980s, intended to replace aging Antonov An-24 aircraft on domestic routes. Designed to operate from unprepared airstrips in remote regions of the USSR, it features a low-wing configuration and robust undercarriage suited to challenging operating environments. The aircraft first flew in 1990 and entered limited service with Uzbekistan Airways in the mid-1990s, but production was slow and only a small number of aircraft were built. Russia subsequently launched a modernized variant, the Il-114-300, powered by updated Klimov TV7-117ST-01 engines, with renewed interest in domestic regional aviation driving a fresh production push at the Lukhovitsy plant. The Il-114-300 program has faced delays, with its first flight occurring in 2021, and serial production intended to serve Russian regional carriers seeking domestically produced alternatives to Western aircraft. The program holds strategic importance for Russia's civil aviation industry.
