The Harbin Yunshuji Y-12 is a twin-turboprop utility aircraft developed by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (HAMC) in China. Designed primarily for short-haul regional and feeder routes, it is well suited to operations from unprepared or short airstrips in remote and mountainous areas. The Y-12 first flew in 1982 and has undergone several variants, including the Y-12II, Y-12IV, and Y-12F, each incorporating progressively improved engines, avionics, and structural refinements. It is certified under Chinese airworthiness standards and has received certification in several other countries. The aircraft has been exported to dozens of countries across Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and Latin America, where it serves small regional airlines, government operators, and humanitarian organizations. Its rugged construction and versatility have made it a popular choice in markets where infrastructure is limited.
