Colombia's ultra-low-cost carrier connecting the nation.
Founded
2012
Headquarters
Medellín, Colombia
VivaColombia was Colombia's first ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC), founded in 2012 and launching operations that same year. The airline was established with backing from Irelandia Aviation and other investors, bringing the low-cost model pioneered in Europe and North America to the Colombian market.
The carrier operated primarily domestic routes within Colombia, with some international services to destinations in Latin America. It focused on stimulating new demand by offering very low base fares, unbundling services to keep ticket prices competitive.
In 2022, VivaColombia's parent company Viva Air Group announced a merger plan with Avianca, but the process faced regulatory challenges. Colombian authorities ultimately denied the merger, and Viva Air suspended operations in February 2023, effectively ending VivaColombia's service.
Hubs & network
VivaColombia primarily operated from El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá and José María Córdova International Airport in Medellín.
Fleet
VivaColombia operated an Airbus A320 family fleet, including A320ceo and A320neo aircraft.
