Comair Limited was a South African private airline that operated scheduled passenger services primarily under the British Airways brand (under licence) and its own low-cost brand, kulula.com. Founded in 1946, it was one of the oldest and most established private carriers in South Africa, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The airline operated a significant domestic and regional network, connecting major South African cities as well as select destinations in sub-Saharan Africa. It was widely recognized for introducing the low-cost carrier model to South Africa through kulula.com, launched in 2001. Comair entered voluntary business rescue in May 2022 following severe financial strain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, fuel price increases, and operational challenges. All flight operations were permanently ceased in June 2022, marking the end of over 75 years of operation.
