LACSA

LACSA, or Líneas Aéreas Costarricenses S.A., was the national airline of Costa Rica and one of the oldest carriers in Latin America. Founded in 1945, it operated as the flag carrier of Costa Rica for decades, connecting the country to destinations throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. LACSA became a founding member of the TACA group, a Central American airline alliance that eventually merged its operations under a unified brand. The airline operated flights from its primary hub at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, serving regional and international routes. In 2009, LACSA was fully integrated into TACA Airlines as part of a broader consolidation of Central American carriers. TACA itself later merged with Avianca in 2013, making LACSA's legacy part of what is now Avianca, one of Latin America's largest airline groups.
