Pinnacle Airlines was a United States regional airline headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, operating as a feeder carrier for major network airlines. The airline flew under the Delta Connection brand, providing regional jet service on behalf of Delta Air Lines to destinations across the continental United States. Founded in 1985, Pinnacle operated a fleet of Bombardier CRJ regional jets and was known for its extensive regional network. The airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2012 and subsequently ceased operations in December 2012 after failing to reach agreements with its major partners and labor groups. Pinnacle Airlines Corp. was the parent company that also owned Colgan Air and Mesaba Airlines at various points, making it one of the larger regional airline holding companies in the United States before its collapse.
