General aviation aerodrome serving the world's southernmost city.
Location
Ushuaia, Argentina
Ushuaia Aeroclub Airport (ICAO: SAWO) is a small general aviation airfield located in Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego province in Argentina. It serves the local aeroclub community and private light aircraft operations, distinct from the main commercial airport serving the region, Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (SAZH).
The aerodrome is situated in one of the world's most southernmost urban areas, surrounded by the dramatic Martial mountain range and close to the Beagle Channel. Its remote and scenic location makes it a point of interest for aviation enthusiasts visiting Patagonia.
Due to its role as an aeroclub facility, SAWO does not handle scheduled commercial airline traffic. Operations are primarily limited to light aircraft, flight training, and recreational flying.
