Scott AFB/MidAmerica Airport (IATA: BLV) is a joint-use facility located near Belleville, Illinois, approximately 25 miles east of St. Louis. It shares its runways and infrastructure with Scott Air Force Base, one of the most strategically important military installations in the United States and home to U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). The civilian side of the airport, known as MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, was developed in the 1990s as a reliever airport for Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Despite significant public investment, it has struggled to attract and retain commercial airline service over the years. The airport features modern facilities and ample capacity but has seen only intermittent scheduled commercial passenger operations. Frontier Airlines and Allegiant Air have operated routes from the facility at various points in its history, though sustained commercial service has proven difficult to maintain.
