Epulu Airport

Epulu Airport is a small, unpaved airstrip located in Epulu, a village in the Ituri Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as a basic air access point for this remote equatorial region, which is best known as the location of the Okapi Wildlife Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The airstrip primarily supports humanitarian missions, conservation operations, and light charter flights, as the surrounding area has very limited road infrastructure. Organizations working in wildlife conservation and local development rely on small aircraft to reach Epulu. The facility has no commercial airline service and lacks the infrastructure typical of formal civil airports, including a terminal building or control tower. Access to the wider world from this location is extremely limited and dependent on small general aviation aircraft.
