Rovná u Sokolova Airstrip

Rovná u Sokolova Airstrip is a small general aviation field rather than a commercial hub, so dining options are modest and charmingly unpretentious. There is no formal terminal building with a food court in the traditional sense, but the airstrip's clubhouse area typically offers refreshments for pilots, crew, and visiting aviation enthusiasts. Expect simple fare — coffee, cold drinks, and occasionally home-style snacks prepared by local volunteers or club members who genuinely enjoy welcoming guests.

The real culinary reward here lies just minutes away in the surrounding Sokolov region, whose West Bohemian food culture runs deep. Local pubs and small restaurants in Rovná and nearby Sokolov serve svíčková na smetaně — the beloved Czech beef sirloin in cream sauce — alongside hearty goulash and freshly baked bread. The area also has a tradition of producing excellent dark lagers, and you'll find that even the humblest roadside hospoda pours a glass with quiet pride and careful attention.

If you are flying in for the day, plan your meals around the village rather than the airstrip itself. Ask locals for their favourite lunch spot rather than relying on any single established recommendation, as the best meals here often come from family-run kitchens with no online presence whatsoever. Pack snacks for longer layovers on the field, and treat any impromptu coffee shared in the clubhouse as part of the authentic experience — because honestly, it usually is the highlight.
