RAF Shawbury

RAF Shawbury is a Royal Air Force station located near Shrewsbury in Shropshire, England. It serves as the home of the Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) and is one of the most important rotary-wing training facilities in the United Kingdom, providing helicopter aircrew training for all three branches of the British Armed Forces. The station also hosts No. 1 Flying Training School and the Central Air Traffic Control School (CATCS), making it a significant centre for both flying and air traffic control training within the RAF. It is not a commercial airport and does not handle civilian passenger traffic. RAF Shawbury has a long operational history dating back to the First World War era, and it continues to play a vital role in military aviation training.
