Tangma Airstrip

Tangma Airstrip (ICAO: WRIW) is a small, remote airstrip located in the Tangma area of Papua province, Indonesia. It serves as a vital access point for communities in the rugged interior of Papua, where roads are largely absent and air transport is the primary means of reaching isolated villages. The airstrip is typical of many small Papua airstrips, designed to handle light aircraft operated by missionary aviation organizations and government charter services. It plays a critical role in delivering supplies, medical assistance, and personnel to the surrounding highland communities. Due to its remote and mountainous setting, operations at Tangma are subject to challenging conditions including short runway length, variable weather, and difficult terrain approaches.
