The base is home to OGMA (Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal), a major aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company with roots dating back to the early twentieth century. OGMA has serviced both military and civil aircraft, making Alverca a significant hub for aviation industry activity in Portugal. Alverca Air Base does not operate commercial passenger services and has no IATA code. The facility is restricted to military and authorized aviation operations, and public access is limited.
