It is owned and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration and serves primarily general aviation traffic, along with military and government operations. The airport is home to the 175th Wing of the Maryland Air National Guard, which operates A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft from the facility. It also hosts flight training, charter, and corporate aviation activity. The airport was historically significant as the former site of the Glenn L. Martin Company aircraft manufacturing plant, one of the most important aerospace manufacturers of the early-to-mid 20th century. Martin State does not offer scheduled commercial airline service. Its runways and facilities support a wide range of general aviation, military, and emergency management operations, making it a key secondary aviation asset in the Baltimore metropolitan region.

Martin State Airport is a joint civil-military public use airport located nine nautical miles east of the central business district of Baltimore, in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. The facility is located within the census-designated place of Middle River on Maryland State Highway 150, near the intersection of Maryland State Highway 700. The Maryland Aviation Administration operates the airport on behalf of the Maryland Department of Transportation. MTN is a general aviation relief airport.
