Pomene Airstrip

Pomene Airstrip is a small, unpaved airstrip located near the Pomene estuary in Inhambane Province, Mozambique. It serves primarily as an access point for the Pomene National Reserve and nearby lodge accommodations, catering mainly to charter flights and private aircraft. The airstrip is basic in infrastructure, with no formal terminal building or commercial airline services. It functions as a vital link for eco-tourists and researchers visiting one of Mozambique's more remote coastal areas, which is otherwise accessible only by difficult overland routes. Given its location within a protected natural area renowned for fishing, snorkeling, and wildlife, the airstrip sees most of its traffic from light charter aircraft operating out of Maputo, Vilankulo, and other regional hubs.
