Miramar Marine Corps Air Station - Mitscher Field

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, officially designated Mitscher Field, is a United States Marine Corps installation located in the Miramar area of San Diego, California. It serves as the home of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the largest tactical aviation command in the Marine Corps, operating a wide range of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. The airfield is a military installation and is not open to commercial passenger service. It is best known to the public as the former home of the Navy's legendary TOPGUN fighter weapons school, which operated there before relocating to Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada. MCAS Miramar is also famous for hosting the annual Miramar Air Show, one of the largest and most attended air shows in the United States, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to watch military aviation demonstrations.
