Seoul Air Base (K-16)

Seoul Air Base, designated K-16 and located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, is a major South Korean Air Force installation situated approximately 20 kilometers southeast of central Seoul. It operates under the Republic of Korea Air Force and has historically served as a joint-use facility with United States military forces. The base hosts the Seoul Air Base Wing and has played a significant role in the defense of the Korean Peninsula since the Korean War era. While primarily a military installation, the airfield has occasionally been used for official government and VIP flights. Due to its military nature, Seoul Air Base is not open to commercial passenger traffic, and public access is strictly controlled. The IATA code SSN and ICAO code RKSM are assigned but are used mainly for military and official flight planning purposes.
