The airport is owned and operated by Miami-Dade County and features two runways suitable for a wide range of piston, turboprop, and light jet aircraft. It hosts numerous flight schools and fixed-base operators (FBOs), making it one of the busiest general aviation airports in South Florida. The airport was rebranded from Tamiami Airport to Miami Executive Airport in 2014 to better reflect its growing role in business and executive aviation.
