Remote Siberian gateway serving the Yamalo-Nenets gas region.
Location
Tarko-Sale, Russia
Tarko-Sale Airport is a regional airport located in Tarko-Sale, the administrative center of Purovsk District in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia. It serves as an important transport link for this remote West Siberian town, which lies in a major natural gas producing area.
The airport primarily handles domestic flights connecting Tarko-Sale to larger Russian cities, supporting both the local population and the energy industry workforce. Given the region's extreme climate and limited road infrastructure, air travel is essential for residents and industrial personnel.
Operations are modest in scale, reflecting the small population of Tarko-Sale and the predominantly industrial nature of the surrounding economy.
Terminals
The airport has a single small terminal building suited to the low passenger volumes of a remote regional facility.
Getting to & from
Ground transport between the airport and Tarko-Sale town center is limited, with taxis being the primary option due to sparse public transit infrastructure.
