Heritage stays are rare but not absent — a handful of properties have converted older havelis or use architecture evoking the Scindia era, though true palace-hotel conversions on the scale of Jaipur are limited here.

The Old Gwalior area closest to the fort offers the most atmospheric stays, placing guests within walking distance of the Teli ka Mandir, Man Singh Palace, and the famous rock-cut Jain sculptures.
