The accommodation ecosystem here is almost entirely composed of family-run guesthouses, homestays, and small lodges built or converted by local families over the past two decades of growing hiking tourism. There are no international hotel chains, no formal star-rated hotels, and no hostels in the conventional sense. What exists is authentic, small-scale, and deeply embedded in local culture, with most hosts offering half-board or full-board arrangements because the village has very limited standalone restaurants.

The vast majority of properties are simple stone or timber buildings, some centuries old and some purpose-built in the last decade to meet hiker demand. Rooms range from basic shared facilities to comfortable en-suite rooms with mountain views. A small but growing number of properties have invested in better bathrooms, reliable hot water, and even solar power. Meals — typically homemade Albanian highland cuisine — are often the highlight of a stay and are frequently included in the room rate or available at modest extra cost.

Because Theth is accessible only via a demanding mountain road from Shkodër (roughly 70 km, much of it unpaved or narrow), the accommodation scene is strongly seasonal. Most guesthouses open between May and October and close entirely in winter. Booking well ahead for July and August is essential, as capacity is genuinely limited. Once in the village, accommodation is reachable on foot if you are staying centrally, but outlying homestays in upper hamlets may require a short drive or a 15–30 minute walk. Many hosts will collect guests from the village center if arriving by furgon. Families should check bathroom arrangements (shared vs. private) carefully, bring their own child-specific medications and supplies (the nearest pharmacy is in Shkodër), and ensure they have reliable transport given the road conditions. Larger groups or families needing interconnected rooms should contact hosts directly rather than relying on platform booking filters.

Theth is not set up for conventional long-stay or serviced-apartment accommodation. There are no aparthotels or monthly-rate rental products. However, some family homestays may negotiate a discounted weekly rate for guests staying 5–7 nights, particularly outside the absolute peak weeks. If you are considering an extended alpine retreat for hiking or writing purposes, direct negotiation with a host in June or September (when rooms are less pressured) is the practical route.
