Saint Lucia is more topographically dramatic, and accommodation types shift considerably by region. Rodney Bay in the north is the hub of international chain hotels, marina apartments, and mid-range guesthouses, making it the easiest base for most visitors. Soufrière in the south, near the Pitons UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosts some of the Caribbean's most photographed boutique resorts and eco-lodges, often built on steep hillsides with extraordinary views but requiring more planning to get around.
