Jordan has invested in its heritage and eco-tourism infrastructure, and this shows in the quality of camp-based stays in Wadi Rum.

Saudi Arabia's tourism sector is rapidly evolving following the 2019 opening of tourist visas. The Tabuk region and the NEOM/Sharma coast are under active development, and AlUla — a UNESCO-adjacent heritage destination — has seen significant investment in upscale eco-lodges and heritage accommodation. Saudi infrastructure outside major cities and flagship projects can be limited; independent travelers should verify availability carefully. All three destinations observe Islamic sensibilities in hospitality norms, and unmarried couples should research local regulations before booking shared accommodation.

Aqaba similarly offers family-friendly chain hotels with beach access. Wadi Rum camps are increasingly welcoming to families with children but toilet and shower facilities in budget camps can be basic; opt for a mid-range or upscale camp if travelling with young children. Petra is manageable for older children but the terrain is rocky and significant walking is involved; accommodation in Wadi Musa ranges from rooms with extra beds to family suites. AlUla is not primarily a children's destination in its current phase but upscale properties can accommodate families. Aqaba has a small supply of furnished apartments available monthly. In Jordan more broadly, Amman has substantial serviced apartment inventory, though Aqaba's long-stay options are more limited.
