The Avro RJ100 is a four-engine regional jet developed by British Aerospace (later BAE Systems) as an advanced successor to the BAe 146. It entered service in the mid-1990s and represented the final and largest variant of the RJ family, offering improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise compared to its predecessor through the use of updated Textron Lycoming LF507 engines. Capable of seating up to approximately 112 passengers in a single-class layout, the RJ100 was well suited to short-haul and regional routes, particularly those serving noise-sensitive or constrained airports. Its four-engine configuration and high-lift wing gave it excellent short-field performance. Production ended in 2001 after modest sales, with around 170 aircraft of the broader RJ family delivered. While many have been retired, some remain in service with smaller regional carriers. BAE Systems later offered a re-engined derivative concept under the AVRO RJX programme, but that project was cancelled in 2001.

The British Aerospace 146 is a short-haul and regional airliner that was manufactured in the United Kingdom by British Aerospace, later part of BAE Systems. Production ran from 1983 until 2001. Production figures include the Avro RJ, an improved version from Avro International Aerospace, a subsidiary of BAE Systems. Production for the Avro RJ version began in 1992. The Avro RJX, a further-improved version with new engines, was announced in 1997, but only two prototypes and one production aircraft were built before all production ceased in 2001. With 387 aircraft produced, the Avro RJ/BAe 146 is the most successful British civil jet airliner programme.
