Fairchild Dornier Do.328

The Fairchild Dornier Do 328 is a 30-seat regional turboprop aircraft developed by Dornier Luftfahrt GmbH in Germany. It entered service in the early 1990s and was designed to offer jet-like comfort and performance on short regional routes, featuring a wide fuselage cross-section unusual for its class. The aircraft was later developed into the Do 328JET variant, which replaced the turboprop engines with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306B turbofan engines, offering higher speed and altitude performance. The original turboprop version used Pratt & Whitney Canada PW119B engines. Production was managed under Fairchild Dornier before the company filed for insolvency in 2002, ending new production. A number of Do 328s remain in service with regional carriers and charter operators, while efforts to revive the type under new ownership have been periodically discussed.
