Embraer RJ140

The Embraer RJ140 is a regional jet developed by Embraer as part of its ERJ family, seating approximately 44 passengers. It is essentially a variant of the ERJ-145 family, sharing much of the same airframe and systems while offering a shorter fuselage and reduced capacity tailored for thinner regional routes. The aircraft shares high commonality with the ERJ-135 and ERJ-145, allowing operators to train crews and maintain fleets with reduced costs. It was marketed primarily to regional carriers in North America operating under major airline code-share agreements. The RJ140 entered service in the early 2000s and saw limited overall production numbers compared to its siblings. It has since been largely phased out or reduced in service as airlines consolidated fleets around newer regional jet platforms.
