Fokker 70

The Fokker 70 is a twin-engine regional jet developed by the Dutch manufacturer Fokker as a shortened derivative of the Fokker 100. It seats approximately 70 to 79 passengers and was designed to serve thinner routes where the larger Fokker 100 would be uneconomical. The aircraft made its first flight in April 1993 and entered commercial service in 1994. It shares a high degree of commonality with the Fokker 100, including its engines, avionics, and systems, which reduces training and maintenance costs for operators flying both types. Fokker declared bankruptcy in 1996, ending production of both the F70 and F100. Despite this, a number of Fokker 70s remain in service with regional carriers around the world, supported by aftermarket parts and maintenance organizations that have taken over support responsibilities.
