Druk Air, officially known as Royal Bhutan Airlines, is the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Established in 1981 and commencing operations in 1983, it holds a unique position as one of the smallest national airlines in the world, operating out of the challenging Paro International Airport.
The airline serves a limited network of destinations across South and Southeast Asia, including cities in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Singapore. Due to Bhutan's strict tourism policies, Druk Air plays a central role in managing the controlled flow of international visitors into the country.
Paro International Airport, the airline's sole hub, is widely regarded as one of the most technically demanding airports in the world, surrounded by Himalayan peaks and requiring specially trained pilots for visual approaches. Druk Air has maintained a strong safety record throughout its history.
