Widerøe

Widerøe is Norway's oldest and largest regional airline, operating an extensive network of short-haul routes primarily along the Norwegian coast and to remote communities that are otherwise difficult to access. The airline has been instrumental in connecting isolated fjord and mountain communities to the broader national transport network. Founded in 1934, Widerøe is renowned for its operation of short take-off and landing (STOL) routes to small airstrips, many of which are subsidized by the Norwegian government as public service obligations. Widerøe operates primarily from Bergen and is majority-owned by Norwegian regional interests following the buyout from SAS in 2023.
