Eastar Jet is a South Korean low-cost carrier founded in 2009, offering domestic and international flights primarily across Northeast Asia. The airline operates routes connecting South Korea with destinations in Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and domestically within South Korea. Eastar Jet faced severe financial difficulties, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a suspension of operations and bankruptcy proceedings beginning in 2020. The airline underwent a prolonged restructuring process, including a failed acquisition attempt by Jeju Air, before eventually resuming limited operations after new investment. Following its rehabilitation, Eastar Jet has worked to rebuild its route network and fleet, positioning itself as a budget travel option for price-conscious passengers in the competitive South Korean aviation market.
