Gällivare Airport

Gällivare Airport (IATA: GEV, ICAO: ESNG) is a regional airport located near Gällivare in Swedish Lapland, well above the Arctic Circle. It serves as an important transport link for a region dominated by iron-ore mining, reindeer herding, and Arctic tourism, including access to the nearby Dundret ski resort and the Swedish mountains. The airport handles a modest volume of passengers, primarily on domestic routes connecting Gällivare with Stockholm Arlanda. Its remote Arctic location means operations must account for extreme winter conditions, heavy snowfall, and sub-zero temperatures for much of the year. Gällivare is close to the famous Aitik copper mine and the LKAB iron-ore operations in Kiruna and Malmberget, making the airport relevant not only for tourists but also for industry workers and business travelers operating in the region.
