NextJet

NextJet was a Swedish regional airline that operated scheduled and charter flights across Sweden and to neighboring Nordic countries. The airline specialized in serving smaller regional airports and communities that lacked convenient connections to major hubs, playing an important role in maintaining air links across Sweden's vast geography. Founded in the early 2000s, NextJet grew to become a notable regional carrier operating under contracts with Swedish transport authorities, including public service obligation (PSO) routes that were deemed essential for remote communities. The airline operated turboprop aircraft suited to short-haul regional routes. NextJet ceased operations in April 2018 after filing for bankruptcy, leaving several regional routes without service and prompting emergency measures by Swedish authorities to ensure continuity for affected communities.
