Overview
Xiaoyeliu (小野柳) is a compact coastal scenic area located in Fugang, within Taimali Township in Taitung County, on Taiwan's southeastern Pacific coast. It sits at the northern tip of an area administered partly through Donghe and Taimali, and is sometimes listed under 'Ttt' as a shorthand for Taitung. The site is managed by the East Coast National Scenic Area administration.
The area is best known for its dramatic, naturally sculpted rock formations shaped by centuries of wave erosion, wind abrasion, and differential weathering. The landscape draws comparisons to the more famous Yehliu Geopark near Taipei — hence the name 'Little Yehliu' (Xiaoyeliu). Formations include mushroom rocks, sea-carved potholes, honeycomb rocks, and layered sedimentary shelves that extend toward the surf.
Because the site is relatively modest in size, it is well-suited to a leisurely half-day walk rather than an extended stay. Most visitors pair it with a drive along the scenic Provincial Highway 11, which traces the entire east coast of Taiwan and is widely considered one of Asia's more spectacular coastal roads.

Getting There
By train
The nearest major rail hub is Taitung Station, served by Taiwan Railways (TRA) from Taipei (east-coast line via Hualien) and from Kaohsiung. From Taitung Station, Xiaoyeliu is roughly 25–30 km north along the coast. There is no direct train stop at the site itself.
By bus or shuttle

Taxis from Taitung are available; agree on a fare or metered rate in advance. Ride-hailing apps with coverage in Taitung should be verified locally for rural route availability.
Getting Around
Xiaoyeliu itself is small enough to explore entirely on foot. A marked walking path loops through the main rock formations along the shoreline. The terrain is uneven in places; appropriate footwear is strongly recommended and some sections may be roped off to protect both visitors and the geological formations.
There are typically interpretive signs in Mandarin and English explaining the geological features, though the accuracy and condition of signage should be verified on arrival. The full loop walk takes most visitors between 30 minutes and one hour depending on pace and photography stops.

Rock formation walks
The primary draw is the self-guided walk among the eroded coastal formations. Features to look for include mushroom-shaped rocks, sea-polished potholes, and layered sandstone and shale platforms. The juxtaposition of pale eroded rock against the deep blue Pacific makes Xiaoyeliu a popular stop for landscape photographers. Early morning and late afternoon light are generally most favorable; midday sun can be harsh and contrast heavy.

Taitung's east coast is positioned along a migratory flyway. Shorebirds and seabirds are commonly spotted around the rocky intertidal zones, particularly during spring and autumn migration periods.
Nearby beach areas
Fugang Harbor, adjacent to the Xiaoyeliu area, is the main departure point for ferries to Green Island (Lyudao). The harbor area offers views of fishing boats and a taste of local coastal life even for those not taking the island ferry.

Dining options immediately at Xiaoyeliu are very limited. There may be a small visitor facility or snack vendors on-site, but this should be verified locally before relying on it, as availability can vary seasonally.
For a fuller meal, Taimali Township and the town of Fugang have small local eateries serving Taiwanese staples. Taitung city, roughly 30 km south, offers a much wider range of dining including night market food, Indigenous Amis cuisine, pork-rice (lu rou fan) shops, and fresh seafood restaurants. The Taitung Night Market is a well-regarded stop for affordable local food.
