Windward Islands Airways, commonly known as Winair, is a regional Caribbean airline based in Sint Maarten. Founded in 1961, it is one of the oldest continuously operating airlines in the Caribbean, serving numerous small island destinations across the Leeward and Windward Islands. Winair operates scheduled passenger services linking Sint Maarten's Princess Juliana International Airport with destinations including Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barths, Dominica, Antigua, and other nearby islands. The airline plays a vital role in inter-island connectivity where larger carriers do not operate. Originally established under the Netherlands Antilles, Winair became majority owned by the government of Sint Maarten following the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010. Winair is a government-owned Dutch regional airline based in Sint Maarten. Founded in 1961 by Georges Greaux and Hippolyte Ledee, It has a fleet of nine aircraft serving destinations mostly within the Leeward Islands group of the Lesser Antilles in the North East Caribbean. It has its headquarters on the grounds of Princess Juliana International Airport. It is also the flag carrier airline of Sint Maarten. Since 1 March 2023, it has been a part of the Flying Blue frequent-flyer programme.
