Interjet (ABC Aerolineas)

Interjet, officially known as ABC Aerolineas, was a Mexican low-cost carrier that operated passenger flights primarily within Mexico, as well as international routes to the United States, Canada, Central America, and Cuba. Founded in 2005, it grew to become one of Mexico's largest airlines, known for offering more legroom and comfort than typical budget carriers. The airline distinguished itself by operating a fleet primarily composed of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft alongside Airbus A320-family jets, making it one of the largest operators of the Russian-made regional jet outside of Russia. Interjet positioned itself in a middle market between full-service and ultra-low-cost carriers. Interjet suspended operations in late 2020 amid severe financial difficulties, including unpaid taxes, fuel debts, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Attempts to restructure and resume operations were unsuccessful, and the airline effectively ceased flying, leaving its future uncertain.
