Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX/MMMX) is the busiest airport in Latin America and the primary international gateway for Mexico's capital. Situated within Mexico City itself, approximately 5 kilometers east of the historic city center, it serves tens of millions of passengers annually and connects Mexico City to destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The airport is named after Benito Juárez, one of Mexico's most celebrated presidents. It operates two parallel runways and two main terminal buildings. Due to longstanding capacity constraints, the Mexican government opened the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) in 2022 to help absorb traffic, and a major new airport (NAICM) was also planned but cancelled in 2018. Aeroméxico uses MEX as its primary hub, and numerous international carriers operate scheduled services. The airport has historically struggled with congestion and slot restrictions, making it one of the most constrained major airports in the Americas.
