TAM Brazilian Airlines, operating under the IATA code JJ, was one of Brazil's largest and most prominent carriers, founded in 1961 and headquartered in São Paulo. The airline grew from a regional taxi air service into a full-scale international carrier, becoming a dominant force in South American aviation.
In 2012, TAM merged with Chilean carrier LAN Airlines to form LATAM Airlines Group, one of the largest airline groups in Latin America and globally. As part of this merger, the TAM brand was gradually transitioned to the unified LATAM brand across its operations.
During its operational peak, TAM offered extensive domestic Brazilian routes as well as international destinations across South America, North America, Europe, and beyond. It was known for its strong customer service culture and significant market share within Brazil.
Hubs & network
TAM operated primarily through Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) and Congonhas Airport (CGH) in São Paulo, as well as Brasília International Airport (BSB).
Fleet
TAM operated a fleet composed primarily of Airbus A320 family aircraft, along with Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 widebodies for long-haul international routes.

LATAM Airlines Brasil, formerly TAM Linhas Aéreas, is the Brazilian brand of Chilean LATAM Airlines Group operating international and domestic flights from hubs in Brasília, Fortaleza, and São Paulo. According to the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), between January and December 2023, LATAM had 37.8% of the domestic, and 18.2% of the international market share in terms of passenger-kilometers flown, making it the largest domestic and largest international airline in Brazil.
