Air One was an Italian private airline that operated as one of the main competitors to Alitalia in the Italian domestic and European short-haul market. Founded in the early 1980s, it grew to become a significant carrier offering scheduled passenger services from its primary base in Rome. The airline underwent significant corporate changes over the years, including a period of low-cost operations under the brand name Air One CityLiner. In 2009, Air One was effectively absorbed into the Alitalia-CAI restructuring process, with its operations largely merged with the relaunched Alitalia. At its peak, Air One operated a fleet of Airbus narrowbody aircraft and served numerous destinations across Italy and Europe. Its callsign HERON and ICAO code ADH identified its operations, while it used the IATA designator AP for ticketing purposes.

Air One S.p.A. was an Italian low-cost airline which operated as Air One "Smart Carrier". It operated as Alitalia's low-cost subsidiary with operating bases located in Catania, Palermo, Pisa, Venice and Verona; while Tirana was a focus city. "Air One" is a portmanteau of the English meaning Air One and the Italian word 'airone', pronounced IPA [ai'rone], meaning heron, which was also the airline's callsign.
