SATENA

SATENA (Servicio Aéreo a Territorios Nacionales) is a Colombian state-owned airline operated under the Colombian Air Force. Founded to provide air connectivity to remote and underserved regions of Colombia, it plays a critical role in linking communities that lack adequate ground transportation infrastructure. The airline serves numerous domestic destinations, many of which would otherwise be inaccessible, particularly in the Amazon, Orinoco, and Pacific regions. SATENA operates under a public service mandate rather than a purely commercial one, making it unique among Colombian carriers. As a government institution, SATENA is subsidized to ensure continued service to economically disadvantaged and geographically isolated areas. It has historically operated turboprop and regional jet aircraft suited to short and unpaved runways common in Colombia's interior.
