The Embraer ERJ 145 is a 50-seat regional jet developed by Brazilian manufacturer Embraer as an evolution of the earlier EMB 120 Brasilia turboprop. It features a narrow fuselage with a 2-1 seating configuration, rear-mounted engines, and a T-tail design, making it well suited for thin regional routes.
Entering service in 1996, the ERJ 145 became one of the most commercially successful regional jets of its era, eventually spawning a family that includes the shorter ERJ 135 and ERJ 140 variants. It competes primarily with the Bombardier CRJ series in the 50-seat regional market.
Despite its age, the ERJ 145 family remains widely operated by regional carriers, particularly in the United States and Latin America. Production of the original ERJ 145 has wound down, with Embraer's focus shifting to the newer E-Jet E2 family, but hundreds of ERJ 145s continue in active service worldwide.
