WestJet

WestJet is a major Canadian airline founded in 1996 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Originally launched as a low-cost carrier serving western Canada, it has grown into one of the country's two dominant airlines, offering scheduled service to destinations across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond. The airline operates both mainline and regional services, with its regional subsidiary WestJet Encore providing connectivity to smaller communities. WestJet was acquired by Onex Corporation in a private equity deal completed in 2019, transitioning the airline from a publicly traded company to private ownership.
