The main terminal's food court sits just past the domestic check-in area, offering a warm and surprisingly well-curated spread of hot meals, snacks, and fresh-brewed tea. Grab a window seat if you can — the views of the Sahand foothills while sipping a glass of chai make waiting for a delayed flight almost pleasurable.

The real star of any airside meal here is the local Azerbaijani flavor that bleeds naturally into the menu. Look for düşbərə, those delicate little dumplings swimming in a clear broth that Tabrizis swear by on cold mornings, and ask whether the kitchen is serving kufteh Tabrizi — the city's famous oversized meatball stuffed with prunes, walnuts, and herbs. Several of the small café counters near the departure gates stock regional cheeses, lavash bread, and house-made pickles that make for a far better pre-flight snack than anything vacuum-sealed.

For a proper sit-down meal, the restaurant adjacent to the international departures lounge is your best bet. Service is genuinely friendly, portions are generous, and the lamb dishes tend to be slow-cooked and deeply seasoned in a way that reminds you you're in one of Iran's great culinary cities. Coffee options are limited — this is very much a tea culture — but the saffron-infused black tea served in traditional istakan glasses is a ritual worth embracing before you board.
