Don Mueang International Airport is one of the world's oldest continuously operating commercial airports, serving as Bangkok's primary hub for low-cost carriers. Located approximately 24 kilometres north of central Bangkok, it handled millions of passengers annually before being supplemented by Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2006. After a period of reduced operations, Don Mueang was reopened to commercial flights in 2007 and has since grown significantly, particularly as the hub for budget airlines serving domestic and regional routes. The airport has undergone several expansions to accommodate increasing passenger traffic. Today, Don Mueang primarily serves low-cost carriers and is one of the busiest airports of its type in Asia, handling tens of millions of passengers per year and playing a vital role in Thailand's aviation network.
