Air Niugini

Air Niugini is the flag carrier of Papua New Guinea, established in 1973 following the country's move toward independence. It operates domestic routes connecting remote and mountainous regions of PNG, as well as international services to destinations across the Pacific, Asia, and Australia. The airline plays a critical role in Papua New Guinea's transport infrastructure, as many communities are inaccessible by road and rely entirely on air travel. Air Niugini serves a mix of urban centers and remote airstrips throughout the country. The carrier is majority owned by the Papua New Guinea government and has faced various operational and financial challenges over the decades, while continuing to expand and modernize its fleet to serve growing passenger demand.
