Kuwait International Airport (KWI) is the sole commercial airport serving Kuwait City and the entire State of Kuwait. Located approximately 16 kilometers south of Kuwait City center, it serves as the main hub for Kuwait Airways and handles millions of passengers annually on routes connecting the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
The airport has undergone significant expansion efforts in recent decades to address growing passenger demand. A major new Terminal 2, designed by Foster + Partners, has been under construction as part of a large-scale modernization project intended to dramatically increase annual capacity. The existing Terminal 1 continues to handle current operations during this transition.
