Ponciano Arriaga International Airport

Ponciano Arriaga International Airport is the main commercial airport serving San Luis Potosí, the capital city of the state of the same name in north-central Mexico. Named after Ponciano Arriaga, a prominent Mexican liberal politician and jurist of the 19th century, the airport sits at an elevation of approximately 1,840 meters (6,035 feet) above sea level on the high plateau known as the Altiplano. The airport handles both domestic and limited international traffic, connecting San Luis Potosí to major Mexican hubs such as Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, as well as select destinations in the United States. It serves an industrializing regional economy that includes automotive manufacturing, mining, and agribusiness sectors. With modern terminal facilities, the airport has seen gradual growth in passenger volume as the state of San Luis Potosí has attracted foreign investment and expanded its industrial base. Infrastructure improvements have been made over the years to accommodate increased traffic.
