Getting to Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island is itself reached by BC Ferries from the Greater Vancouver area (Tsawwassen to Nanaimo or Duke Point) or from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay. Denman Island has no public transit. A personal vehicle, bicycle, or two feet are the primary ways to get around.

Driving is straightforward; Denman Island Road is the main artery. Roads are mostly paved but can be narrow. There are no traffic lights on the island.

Located at the southern tip of Denman Island, Boyle Point Provincial Park offers trails through coastal forest leading to a lighthouse viewpoint overlooking Chrome Island. On clear days the views across the strait are expansive, and the area is a good spot for watching eagles and seabirds. The trails are moderate and suitable for most fitness levels.

Fillongley Provincial Park

Fillongley Provincial Park on the island's east side contains old-growth Douglas fir and cedar forest as well as a beachfront. The park has walking trails, a campground, and access to a pebble beach — a good option for picnics and casual exploration.

Arts and Studios

Denman has a disproportionately large community of working artists relative to its population.
