Kharkiv International Airport (IATA: HRK, ICAO: UKHH) is the main commercial airport serving Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, located in the northeastern part of the country. The airport has historically served as a key hub for both domestic routes within Ukraine and international connections to Europe, the Middle East, and the former Soviet states. The airport underwent significant modernization and expansion projects in the early 2010s, partly in preparation for UEFA Euro 2012, which Kharkiv co-hosted. A new terminal was constructed and infrastructure was upgraded to handle increased passenger volumes during that period. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the airport was forced to suspend all commercial operations. The facility sustained damage during the conflict, and as of the time of writing, it remains closed to civilian air traffic. Its future operations are contingent on the resolution of the ongoing war.
